Dr. Doug McCloy
Dr. McCloy graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1995. He first practiced in Jamaica through a volunteer internship at a public hospital while working in a private practice. The early years he spent practicing in Jamaica developed his global perspective and passion for caring for the underserved, which has continued throughout his career.
Dr. McCloy returned to Ohio and worked in a variety of settings before purchasing the Professional Eye Care practice in Marion, Ohio. He has owned and operated that practice for the last 20 years.
In 2002, Dr. McCloy and his wife Rhonda returned to Jamaica to serve with the Mission Corps of the Church of the Nazarene. Out of the need to financially support their volunteer assignment in conjunction with the desire to deliver eye care, Dr. McCloy opened the first of six present day Professional Eye Care practices, providing services in the southern and western regions of Jamaica.
From 2008 to 2013, Dr. McCloy coordinated the missional construction and eventual opening of the Gamertsfelder Mission and Eye Surgery Center in Frome, Jamaica.
Dr. McCloy is proud to carry on and expand the work of Dr. Gamertsfelder with Mission of Sight. The organization continues to grow and provide needed comprehensive eye care to a population that is both underserved and economically challenged.
Dr. McCloy continues to operate his Professional Eye Care practices in Marion and Jamaica. He spends the majority of his time in Jamaica providing eye care, growing Mission of Sight and providing missional opportunities for persons at all levels of the eye care profession. He and his wife Rhonda have four children, including two boys and two girls.
Rhonda McCloy has been by Doug's side since day one. She is at the very heart of Mission of Sight. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Rhonda rolled up her sleeves right along side the construction team to build and develop what is now a top eye clinic and surgery center in Jamaica. It has definitely been a labor of love.
Opening the first practice was out of necessity for them, but the additional locations came from the ever growing needs of the communities they serve.
Passionate about service, Rhonda could see the need for eye care services in the country they had come to call home. As their practice and Mission of Sight has continued to grow, so has the number of those whose sight has been improved or restored. A second surgery center is preparing to open, so more patients can be helped.
In addition to raising four children, Rhonda serves as the chief operating officer for both Professional Eye Care and Mission of Sight. She oversees operations in both the U.S. as well as Jamaica.
Optometrist Dr. Nick provides full-time primary, secondary and surgical care to both PEC and Mission of Sight patients. Dr. Nick splits his time between three clinics, including the surgery center.
Originally from Arkansas, Dr. Nick and his family most recently lived in Augusta, Georgia before joining us. His wife, Casie, and their two daughters relocated to Jamaica in June of 2018.
Dr. Nick has already had the opportunity to pray over his patients, and it is his daily mission to share Christ and His love through eye care.
Dr. Myers provides full-time ophthalmology and surgical care to both PEC and Mission of Sight patients. Her husband, Jeromee, has a true servant's heart and is eager to get his hands into the many projects we have going.
The Myers most recently lived in Oregon but have called many cities throughout the U.S. home. Dr. Myers completed undergrad training at Baylor University in Texas and received her medical degree from Brown University.
Jeromee is prior active duty in the Air Force and is currently in the Air National Guard.
