WHO WE ARE
Mission of Sight is a faith-based 501(c)(3) non-profit that is dedicated primarily to helping those with impaired vision by restoring their sight. Founded in 2008, Mission of Sight has been serving the Jamaican people since its inception through various partnerships with international mission-minded volunteers associated with NGO's and other faith-based organizations, the Jamaica Ministry of Health, and multiple professional colleges and universities.
WHAT WE DO
HELPING CHANGE LIVES BY GIVING SIGHT.
We are dedicated to helping those who cannot see or struggle with impaired vision to get their life back by restoring their sight. Whether through surgery or simply vision correction, we are focused on improving life by improving vision.
With an emphasis for sustainable eye care that also employs and empowers Jamaica nationals, Mission of Sight is committed to eradicate blindness and other forms of visual poverty.
CONTINUING THE LEGACY
Initially, over a span of several years in partnership with the Church of the Nazarene, Mission of Sight led the construction of a 10,000 square foot facility that supports surgical and clinical eye care operations for a large, rural region of underserved Jamaicans.
In 2019, Mission of Sight and Professional Eye Care successfully established a second eye surgery location in Montego Bay with expanded comprehensive and sub-specialty surgical services. The procedures performed restore sight and are enabling countless patients with severe visual impairment to regain independence in their daily lives. Additionally, through the sustainability partnership with Professional Eye Care and other partners, Mission of Sight has been able to employ multiple Optometrists and Ophthalmologists to lead in medical retina, specialty clinical care, as well as ongoing procedural and surgical care so that patients are cared for consistently throughout the year, regardless of the volunteer schedule.
